Create and manage API keys

Create a key

Open the console, choose API keys, name the key and choose what it may do. The full key is shown once; VETR stores only a hash, so a lost key cannot be recovered. Create a new one and revoke the old one.

Abilities

  • read: list and read data and call the models.
  • write: create and change data. Available once your workspace has paid (a top-up or a paid plan).
  • delete: delete data. Same requirement as write.

Give each integration the smallest set it needs. A key with only read cannot change anything.

Keys belong to one workspace

A key created in the console is bound to the workspace it was created in. It cannot be used to act in another workspace, even one you also belong to.

Keep keys safe

  • Never put a key in client-side code, a public repository or a chat.
  • Rotate keys when a person leaves a project.
  • Revoke a key from the console at any time; it stops working immediately.
